Tammy Adsitt

I have been training retrievers for fieldwork since 1974, earning my first Qualified All-Age title at just 14 years old. My parents, who ran Van Lee Labradors, introduced me to training and breeding dogs for fieldwork, and they were my first teachers. Growing up, I watched them compete in AKC and CKC Field Trials, which inspired me to develop my own skills and passion.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the best in the field, including Dana Brown Istre, Rex Carr, and Jim Dobbs. I’ve trained many retrievers for obedience, hunting, and AKC Hunt Tests, always focusing on maintaining a positive attitude in the dogs I work with.

I’ve titled numerous dogs in all three stakes of the AKC Hunt Test program, with several qualifying for the Master National and one earning a spot in the Master National Hall of Fame. While I love training dogs, I believe that true success comes from building a strong team between the dog and an owner. Watching those partnerships thrive is what I enjoy most about my work.

Renee Adsitt-Pettey

Since I was eight years old, I’ve loved working with dogs alongside my mom, Tammy. At nine, I trained my first dog, Lazer, to earn his Junior Hunt Test title, and later, his Senior title. One of my most memorable experiences was competing in ESPN’s Great Outdoor Games at age 12, where Lazer and I placed seventh in the Big Air Competition.

In 2005, I became my mom’s training partner, and together we’ve titled countless dogs in AKC Hunt Tests. One of my proudest accomplishments was earning a spot in the Master National Hall of Fame with my dog, Maze. I’ve also trained dogs for obedience, helping them become well-mannered companions.

Now, I live in Chaumont, NY, where I train alongside my daughter, Nikki, and my mom. Working together as three generations, we provide our dogs with diverse training environments and experiences. Seeing the dogs progress and achieve the clients potential is what I love most about this work.

Nicole Hager

My passion for training dogs started with Lottie, a black Labrador from my family’s breeding program. From the moment she was born, I felt a special connection with her. At nine years old, I started training Lottie with guidance from my mom, Renee, and my grandmother, Tammy. By 2022, I earned Lottie’s Junior Hunt Test title, and in 2024, her Senior title.

I loved every part of the process—training, running tests, and seeing our hard work pay off. Today, I’m working toward Lottie’s Master title while training two other dogs from our breeding program. I enjoy teaching obedience and building on their natural hunting abilities, applying those skills in both tests and real hunting situations.

Training with my mom and grandmother as three generations is an incredible experience. I’m proud to carry on our family’s legacy and passion for raising and training exceptional retrievers.

OUR HISTORY OF SUCCESS

For over four decades, Peak Performance Training has been a trusted name in breeding, training, and caring for exceptional Labradors. As an AKC Breeder of Merit, we have a proven track record of producing high-quality dogs that excel in fieldwork, hunting, obedience, and as loving family companions. With hundreds of titled dogs across all three levels of the AKC Retriever Hunt Test Program, our success is a testament to our commitment to excellence.

At Peak Performance, our breeding program is guided by strict standards. Every dog used in our program undergoes all recommended health clearances, including OFA-certified hips and elbows, eye CERF evaluations, and comprehensive genetic testing. Dogs must also be titled in AKC Retriever Hunt Tests, ensuring they possess the intelligence, trainability, and temperament required for fieldwork and companionship. This rigorous process ensures that whether you’re looking for a hunting partner, an agility competitor, or a loyal family pet, our Labradors are the perfect fit for your lifestyle.

Our litters are raised with unparalleled care in a dedicated puppy nursery within their home. Puppies receive early socialization with family members, including young children, and are introduced to various environments, sounds, and surfaces. Starting as early as four weeks, they undergo early neurological stimulation (ENS) and foundational training, such as potty training, retrieving exercises, and exposure to real feathers. By the time they go to their forever homes, they are well-prepared for their roles as working dogs or companions.

Our Peak Performance team takes great pride in their successes, from producing Master National Hall of Fame dogs to training numerous retrievers that have achieved prestigious AKC titles. We also provide expert training tailored to their clients’ needs, helping dogs and their owners form lasting partnerships in hunting, fieldwork, and obedience.

With state-of-the-art facilities in Holland, NY, and Chaumont, NY, we offer a complete range of services, including personalized training programs, top-tier breeding, and comfortable boarding options. Whether it’s titling dogs at the highest levels or ensuring a happy, healthy environment for puppies and adults alike, Peak Performance Training is dedicated to raising the bar for canine care and training.

Let Peak Performance Training be the partner you trust to bring out the best in your dog!
